The event will take place from November 6 to 15, 2026, bringing together the world’s top national surfing teams in a key competition on the road to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games.
The competition, organized by the International Surfing Association (ISA), selected Punta Rocas as the official venue for one of the most important championships on the global surfing calendar, where surfing powerhouses such as Brazil, Australia, the United States, France, and Japan will arrive in Peru in 2026 seeking the world title and valuable points in the Olympic qualification process.

The Peruvian wave is considered one of the most important high-performance surf breaks in South America, standing out for its long, fast, and technical right-handers, characteristics that have historically allowed world-class international competitions to take place at the spot.
In fact, Punta Rocas hosted the 50th anniversary edition of the ISA World Surfing Games in 2014, where Peru claimed the world team title, consolidating the country as one of the great powers of Latin American surfing.

Regarding the Olympic Games, since surfing made its Olympic debut at Tokyo 2020, the ISA World Surfing Games have become one of the main qualification pathways, reaffirming the tournament’s importance within the international circuit.
The Olympic spots awarded by the ISA are determined through the performance of the men’s and women’s national teams during the championship. Afterwards, the National Olympic Committee corresponding to the winning country will be responsible for deciding which athletes will ultimately represent them at Los Angeles 2028.
In this context, Peru once again positions itself in the eyes of the surfing world through an event that will reunite the international elite during a relevant stage on the road to LA28.
