The King of Sintra Reaches 62 International Podiums
The Frenchman, a two-time world champion, returned to the podium at Praia Grande and claimed his sixth Sintra Pro victory, cementing his status as the event’s all-time winningest athlete.
Pierre-Louis Costes continues to write his name into the history of world bodyboarding after once again winning the Sintra Pro 2026 and reaching 62 international podium finishes in his career, extending the record he had already set at the Maldives Pro 2026, where he officially surpassed the 60 podiums achieved by Brazilian legend Guilherme Tâmega.
But this latest victory carries a special significance. With his win at Praia Grande, Costes claimed his sixth title, definitively becoming the King of Sintra, a recognition built over more than a decade of dominance at one of the circuit’s most iconic waves.
His six victories at the event came in 2012, 2015, 2022, 2024, 2025 and 2026, cementing a unique connection between the French rider and the demanding Portuguese wave. Throughout his career, Pierre has also built an impressive record at some of the world’s most challenging venues, including Pipeline, El Frontón, Arica, Antofagasta, Zicatela, Itacoatiara, Nazaré, the Maldives and Sintra.
These achievements add to his two world titles, won in 2011 and 2016, as well as a career defined by consistency, innovation and a progressive style that has made him one of the leading figures of modern bodyboarding. Now, with six Sintra crowns and 62 international podium finishes, Pierre-Louis Costes once again leaves his mark on the history of the sport.
