Viviana Araya Closes an Intense Weekend of Competition

The Iquique native won the Women’s Open at the Noveno Memorial SQR, part of the Southern Circuit, and then finished second at the second round of the National Federated Bodyboard Circuit in Curanipe, Pelluhue.

Her campaign began at the Noveno Memorial SQR, the second round of the Southern Bodyboard Circuit, presented by Aukan Ko. The competition brought together athletes across seven categories, including Dropknee, Open Men, Open Women, Junior, Old Wolf, Women’s Surf and Men’s Surf.

In the Women’s Open, Viviana’s two best waves scored 4.17 and 0.83 points, giving her a total of 5 points. According to the official result, Araya claimed the victory by 1.5 points over her closest rival in the final. The category podium was completed by Macarena Lecaros, also with 5 points; Javiera Farías, with 4.17; and Carol Álvarez, with 2.80.

After this first competition, the athlete continued her campaign in the second round of the National Federated Bodyboard Circuit, an event originally scheduled to take place in Pelluhue under the name Open Tres Peñas 2026. However, conditions forced the organizers to change the competition venue, moving it to Camping in Curanipe, where the decisive rounds of the event were ultimately held.

Viviana advanced to the Women’s Open final, facing Valentina Díaz, Colomba Caimi and Danicelly Vallejos. In an extremely tight final, the Chilean recorded her two best waves with scores of 5.0 and 3.0, earning a total of 8 points.

Despite this, the result was not enough to win the event, and she finished in second place, as Valentina Díaz scored a total of 8.03 points, beating Araya by just 0.03 points. Colomba Caimi finished third with 7.50 points, while Danicelly Vallejos completed the podium with 6.90.

With these results, Viviana Araya wrapped up her time in southern Chile with two podium finishes, reflecting her high level as a professional bodyboarder. Her performance also allows her to move up in the national rankings, once again putting her in a strong position to fight for the title and become national champion once again.
