Family members and close friends of the Colombian athlete have launched a solidarity campaign to support his recovery after the accident he suffered during the Bodyboard World Championship held in Itacoatiara, Brazil, on May 23.
According to information shared by his partner, Luiza, the rider suffered a lumbar injury with spinal cord compression and had to undergo decompression surgery in an attempt to restore movement in his legs.
The campaign aims to raise financial support to cover medical expenses, medications, transportation, rehabilitation, and other costs associated with the recovery process, which could extend for several months.

Thomás currently lives in Brazil, where he has resided for approximately one year after initially arriving for sports competitions. According to his girlfriend, he worked making deliveries and developing small business ventures while continuing to stay connected to the sport and studying to become a lifeguard.
“The doctors are optimistic, but the expenses are overwhelming and I can’t handle them alone,” Luiza stated on social media, where she shared different ways people can help.
Those wishing to contribute can do so through the campaign shared by @luizaathayde_ on Instagram, where support platforms such as Vakinha, Pix bank transfers, and Wise for those wishing to donate from Colombia and other countries are available.
