Pelluhue Prepares for a Historic Open Tres Peñas

On September 5 and 6, the coast of southern Maule will host the second stop of the national federated bodyboarding circuit.

The coast of Pelluhue will welcome Chile’s top athletes at La Guerrera, an iconic wave on the so-called Golden Coast of Maule. Its power and unique characteristics will demand strong ocean reading, technical ability, and the capacity to adapt to the conditions the sea presents throughout the weekend.

The arrival of the competition represents an important step for the development of bodyboarding in southern Maule. As a two-star FECHSURF event, every result will have a direct impact on the national rankings, making Tres Peñas an important stop for athletes looking to climb the standings during the season.

There is also a significant financial incentive, with $1,500,000 Chilean pesos in total prize money to be distributed among the top finishers in the competing categories: Open Men, Open Women, Junior Men, and Dropknee.

In the Open categories, the prize purse will award $200,000 to the champion, $100,000 to the runner-up, $60,000 to third place, and $40,000 to fourth place. For Junior Men and Dropknee, the distribution will be $100,000 for first place, $80,000 for second, $50,000 for third, and $40,000 for fourth.

However, beyond the points and prize money, the Open Tres Peñas represents a new opportunity for competitive bodyboarding in the Maule Region. Including Pelluhue in the national circuit expands the locations featured on the calendar while highlighting waves that are part of the identity of this stretch of the Chilean coastline.

La Guerrera will therefore move beyond being simply a wave known by the riders who frequent Pelluhue and officially become part of Chile’s competitive bodyboarding map, thanks to the Department of Sports and the Municipality of Pelluhue, with the collaboration of FECHSURF and Cura3Puntas, who organized the event.
