The Japanese rider arrived at the ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboarding Pro as the championship leader with 6,000 points, following victories in the Maldives and Sintra. Her advantage over Brazilian Luna Hardman kept the title race open, but Yamashita only needed to reach the quarterfinals to mathematically secure the crown.

By advancing to this stage, Namika finally claimed the title that had been within reach during the 2025 season, when she finished second in the world rankings. At the 2025 ArcelorMittal Wahine Bodyboarding Pro, her quarterfinal elimination against Brazilian rider Neymara Carvalho allowed Alexandra Rinder to secure her third world title. This time, however, the story had a different ending and, at just 24 years old, Yamashita can now call herself a World Champion.

This title is also the result of the consistency she has built over recent years on the international circuit and makes her the third Japanese rider to win the Open Women's World Title, joining compatriots Ayaka Suzuki and Sari Ohhara, further strengthening Japan's presence among the great champions in the history of women's bodyboarding.
