Chile Secures Double Youth Podium at ALAS Garabito Pro

Chilean surfing closed out a strong performance at the ALAS Garabito Pro 2026, held at Playa Hermosa, Costa Rica, with two young national representatives reaching the podium in the youth categories.
Throughout the four days of competition, Playa Hermosa offered good conditions, with consistent waves allowing competitors to showcase a wide repertoire of maneuvers, from barrels and aerials to powerful turns, raising the level of the action in every category.
In the U18 division, Reimundo Berry claimed the silver medal after reaching the grand final and finishing in second place with a total of 9.34 points. The Chilean faced Costa Rican Teo Simón in the final, who took the victory with a score of 12.40.
The podium was completed by Argentina’s Facundo Ruggiero, who finished third with 5.57 points, and Peru’s Mariano Robles, who took fourth place with a total of 4.60.
Romano Menichetti also delivered a strong performance, securing third place in the U14 category and earning Chile’s second medal at this stop of the ALAS Global Tour.
In the final, Kalany Camarena took first place with 12.27 points, while Peru’s Facundo Castañeda finished second with 11.84. Chilean Romano Menichetti claimed third place with an overall score of 6.80 points, while Costa Rica’s Kian Jiron finished the heat in fourth with 5.97 points.
With these results, Berry and Menichetti were the two Chilean representatives to reach the podium in Garabito, standing out among the young talents competing in another stop of the Latin American circuit. Their performances reflect the strong momentum of the new generation of Chilean surfers, who continue to gain experience and make their mark on the international stage.
