Arica Officially Launches the 2026 National Surf and Bodyboard Championship

During a ceremony held at Terraza Mestiza this Saturday, the 2026 ACB National Surf and Bodyboard Championship were officially launched. The event will take place from July 13 to 19 at the iconic El Gringo - Flopos wave in Arica.

The launch brought together local authorities, athletes, organizers, and members of the surf and bodyboard community, who celebrated the return of Chile's national circuit to one of the country's most challenging waves, internationally recognized for the quality of its surf.

"As organizers, we saw the opportunity to bring a top-level competition back to Arica, and we hope it will be an unforgettable week for surfing and bodyboarding. In addition to the action in the water, there will be movie screenings, talks by renowned athletes and several activities so the entire community can be part of this true celebration of board sports," said Francisco Alvarado, president of Club Unión Flopos and one of the event organizers.

One of the week's featured activities will be Movie Night, scheduled for July 15, where V.ROZZ Films will screen its Queen of the Wave documentaries, including Latin Girl, The Bultó Sisters and Pipeline, productions that showcase different stories from the world of surfing and bodyboarding while strengthening the connection between the sport and the community.

Another major highlight of this edition is the inclusion of the Women's Open Surf and Bodyboard divisions, made possible through the support of V.ROZZ Films, an initiative aimed at continuing to promote women's participation in the sport and creating more opportunities for female athletes.

Professional bodyboarder Viviana Araya commented: "El Gringo is a wave that pushes you beyond your limits and brings out the best in you, making it the perfect stage for Chile's top surfers and bodyboarders to showcase their level. I also want to thank V.ROZZ Films for continuing to support the women's divisions, because it gives us an essential platform to keep growing and moving closer to our goals as high-performance athletes."

The 2026 ACB National Surf and Bodyboard Championships are open to the public and will be broadcast live through www.vrozzfilms.com, allowing fans from Chile and around the world to follow every day of competition. With one of South America's most iconic waves as its stage, Arica is preparing to host a week in which surfing and bodyboarding will once again take center stage.
